Materials Needed:

• Ferro Rod - 1/2" x 5"

• Striker - 5/16" x 5/16" x 2-1/2" HSS Tool Bit

• (2) Handle Pieces 1" x 1" x 3-1/2"

• 550 Paracord for connecting cord

 

You will get much better sparks and longevity using large diameter ferro rods (at least 3/8") with at least 2.5" of strike surface length.

Also most strikers are small and uncomfortable. This build uses a lathe cutting tool made from high speed steel for maximum sparks.
